Tongue piercings are not a new thing. In fact, they have been a trend for many years.

Nonetheless, there are things that many people don’t take into account when it comes to perforate their tongues.

It is not like piercing an ear or your belly button. A piercing in the tongue involves many things to do so that the wound heals rapidly avoiding infections.

So, even when you go with plastic surgeons or dental professionals, there is a possibility of not getting it.

Doctors associated this practice with health risks that may occur after doing it.

Even when the wound heals, there will be some risks.

The American Dental Association recommend not to do it since it can interfere with your speech, swallowing, and chewing.

As you can see, there are a lot of health risks when you decide to get piercings. So the best thing to do here is to keep in mind these risks before getting them. It is safe if you are careful, but even though, there are complications in the future. As I said early in this post, you will have chances to bite your tongue earring accidentally, blood loss, chipped or fractured teeth, among other dental problems.
